Vi'lage....a Marche wannabe.
maybe i should be a food critic. and restaurant rackee-er, however you spell that.
there's this new place at China Square Central, called Vi'lage, (vEe-LAH-JAy), that's an absolute dead ringer for Marche
they even had the cows, (ok so the staff insist they're bulls actually) which were admittedly more festively decorated
with tomatoes/croissants/cheeses on their multi-coloured hides. poor cows. i mean, bulls.
only that it's eerily quiet (at dinner time yesterday, granted it just opened) and the staff are unbearably free so their eyes bore into you as you stroll around, deciding what to eat. Everything's almost the same.... only that this place has oven-baked seafood rice. Food changes from day to day, but most of the Marche staple (eg: rosti, teppanyaki, crepe with Movenpick icecream....) is the same and priced the same.
In spite of all this, the cashier insisted that the restaurant is NOT under the group that manages Marche. Hmmm.
A case of plagiarism? Or just a 'new' idea? You decide.
Go there if you want Marche without the noisy crowd, plus the over-friendly staff.
And remember, it's not a cow, it's a bull!
