j'ai mal a la gorge

and it's my fault... i finally tried the white chocolate raspberry truffle cheesecake that yanny so helpfully recommended at the cheesecake factory today... well there was the white chocolate reese's peanut butter swoops and the numerous potato chips and goldfish pretzel crackers that i've eaten these past few days. this is unnerving... cos' joseph's sitting next to me listing all the crap i've eaten.. the sour gummy worms and gummy bears that were supposed to be his "keep-awake" food (which i ate and then promptly fell asleep in the car) and oreo cereal bits.. yeah. note-to-self: eating too many gummy stuff makes my left bottom set of teeth sensitive. which makes for painful brushing of teeth.

OH. i bumped into john malkovich today. seriously. i thought i was seeing things... and tried to ask joe if he saw him as well and i got a very blur "i thought he was just another old man"
... in any case i was bouncing for awhile... remembering all the cool movies that he acted in (les liaisons dangereuses! he killed keanu reeves!! and being john malkovich.... duh.) and wishing so hard that i'd had the touristy camera out so i'd be able to squeeze in a quick side photo. and just in case i was wondering if i was wrong about seeing the guy.. he was on the front cover of this free entertainment guide to chicago in the information centre that i went to to look for rush tickets for. yeah... he's acting in the steppenwolf theatre for some drama, can't remember what play at the moment. but in any case i was bouncing. can't believe i saw an actual movie star on the street. he looked kinda scruffy though. but he definitely saw me looking at him.

went to millenium park and walked around the numerous parks of chicago today... bought premiere tickets to neil simon's fools at tinfish theatre (which was silly fun and full of stupid idiots but i was in the mood for a lighthearted play) and went shopping and then headed to cheesecake factory at the john hancock tower for lunch. my legs are absolutely aching and i feel so fat from the waist up... my legs are toned cos' of the enormous amount of walking i've been doing this entire trip. day before yesterday we stayed at joe's friend james' place in purdue university (if you realise, i'm actually doing a university tour... i've been to uiowa, universite laval in quebec city, utoronto, purdue, harvard and MIT and boston college and university of boston in boston {duh}, and now i'm staying in chicago international hostel which is next to loyola university.) and it was a really beautiful place.. i'd say it was one of the better ones... entertainment and foodwise and facilities as well.

okay going to sleep now. the hostel requires us to check out at 930am so i HAVE to get up early. feels like being in school again. yucks!

august 2014. how time flies! i still feel like i have so much more growing up to do. :)

funny how life changes forever with the most miniscule of happenings. the startled meeting of two surreptitious glances in the mirror, the sudden dangled offering of purchase of free flight. the thin results slip, the inconspicuous admissions letter. the bad phone call, a moment's folly of taking advantage of someone. the last thoughtless caustic remark that pushes a strained friendship over the edge. i love/hate life. and i know it's a loan.
